Individual Driver Coaching for young drivers

Fact

  • Many new drivers will have a crash within the first six months of driving. The crashes are usually minor, but after the first crash, young drivers are ten times more likely to be involved in a second crash.
  • Crashes are the leading cause of death for young adults ages 16 to 19 years of age.
  •  Are you willing to invest in the future of your young driver?
  • Contact us to assist in preventing your young driver from crashing a vehicle and causing injury to themselves or another because of poor training.

Garry parker emergency driving instructor

  • Garry has trained hundreds of law enforcement drivers in his career. There is not a secret sauce used by law enforcement drivers.
  • They must maintain control of the vehicle's operation.
  •  They must give themselves time and space to navigate the ever changing traffic situation.
  •  They must arrive at a call for service safely to conduct their business.
  • Garry can train your young driver in the same driving techniques taught to emergency vehicle operators.

4 hour driver coaching session

  • Our training is conducted in 4 one hour sessions over the course of 2 to 4 weeks depending on scheduling.

Day One: ground school.

  • A short classroom presentation will be provided as a benchmark to assess the needs of the student. The young driver is trained on defensive driving techniques, how to set up the vehicle for operation, (mirrors, seating position, steering wheel control and seatbelts). Followed by an orientation of how to check fluid levels and change a flat tire, how to deal with a roadside emergency, where to stop for safety in an emergency.

Day Two: Operation orientation.

  • The young driver will learn techniques on how to avoid crashes by using a time and distance philosophy.  Two philosophies will be discussed. Both have important methods of avoiding crashes. This will be performed in the students vehicle in a parking lot then on the road. Coaching on defensive driving occurs throughout the drive.

Day Three: Drive to Survive

  • This session will review techniques acquired in the last session and only needed coaching will occur. This session will also be performed in the students vehicle.

Day Four: Demonstrate what has been learned

  • Evaluation day. The last session will begin with a short written exam. Then young driver will demonstrate their ability to operate the vehicle for a score.
  • The student will be given a roadside emergency kit for completing the course.
  • Parents are strongly encouraged to attend any or all sessions.
